Default Advice for a PvP newb interested in getting competetive

For over a year now, I have been playing guild wars....PvE...
I am mostly a guy who loves to do general PvE and fill my HoM, but lately I have been curious in the competitive side of Guild Wars.
My prime interest would be GvG because of the faction bonus
Anyways, like I said, I am a newbie to PvP. Any tips?
And would becoming competitive and joining a GvG guild halt my goal in PvE for filling HoM?

Also, FYI, my favorite classes are Paragon and Mesmer. So I am thinking of playing either professions if I get into PvP

AND that.

P.S. Me and Lemming are best buddies, which makes us real competitive people. We also make out once in a while.

lol@ pvp to get HoM titles... (This iks the exact reaso why HA is full of Rspiker/herowayers/HA'ers)

Other than that:

Join KiSu, be good and, like ppl said, make e-friends...

I'll leave out the part where I say that both GvG and HA are at the end of their lifespan, as GW has been going for over 2 years without reasonable skill updates. Most of the format has gone to sheit, gimmicks everywhere and you can barely call it PvP no more, as you find yourself more often that not spammining skills whilst tabbing through foes...

Meh, what am I saying, offcorse GvG is about skill, and PvP is still a sheitton of fun.

Good luck, have fun.

a) Find a guild
b) Find out what's your favourite Profession
c) Learn to play your favourite Profession (Observe, talk to some guys for advice, ...)
d) Stop thinking about HoM - the Champtitle is quite hard to get for a newb. At the beginning you will probably be really bad, so it's hard to win and to climb the ladder. Be patient and improve.

Champ title monument is pretty easy to get actually, provided you don't mind paying yush about a thousand ectos.

It takes time and a certain amount of dedication to become good at PvP. It won't happen overnight.

Observe, read, find a guild, figure what you want to play and play it until you clearly become the best at that class in your group.

mesmers can seriously pwn in PvP
just by shutting down a monk
get a good interupter build and sharpen your reflexes for interupting and you can be a good shutdown mesmer against monks

There's a lot more to a mesmer than shutting down monks...
you don't really need good reflexes at all - most crucial skills you need to interrupt are 1s++ casting time. You just need to be smart.

learn to count cooldowns, divert/shame during spikes, interrupt stuff...

i dunno, but observing a good mesmer in GvG from a top 100 guild is always nice, and readily available.

paragons arent quite as loved in gvg afaik. HA however...

Ignore the past 10 posts or something. teamlove is good, and making friends is a sound way to get into PvP.

Actually, if you want the complete PvP experience you just have to idle #gwp occasionally making racist jokes and complaining about the lag/euros/the recent skill balance/euros (delete as appropriate).
